John R. Crittenden, CAIA, a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst with a Certificate in Wealth Management from the New York Institute of Finance, has been in the wealth management industry his entire career. Beginning as a stockbroker with roots in the Midwest, he relocated to the West Coast with a specialty unit of an insurance company as an Asset Liability Management consultant to banks and credit unions. He then joined Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in Newport Beach, CA serving High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth individuals and families where he was a top quintile performer, moved on to VP of Institutional Distribution for Proctor Investment Managers in New York, and then built and sold another private client book of business at DA Davidson (formerly Crowell, Weedon & Co.). John then joined the founders of Acorns investing app at the very beginning as Director of Institutional Services and Chair of the Investment Committee. He was brought on by Pefin - an AI financial advice engine as Chief Strategy Officer, and was a special advisor to Bambu, a Singapore based wealthtech company.
In addition to advising individuals and families, John consults to multiple VC backed fintech startups and legacy platforms in their digital transformation journey, and is a sought-after public speaker on financial technology strategy and ethics. He is a survivor of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and a mental health awareness advocate for those suffering from PTSD and other conditions. (Mr. Crittenden was on the 61st floor of Two World Trade Center when the plane hit the building, escaped through the stairwell, and ran as the building dropped).
